Their motto Dum Tacet Clamat is Latin meaning "though silent, he speaks". This insurance company/mutual benefit society, started in the 1880's, would pay the widow $100 and provide a free grave marker, many of which were very ornate, some featuring vertical markers patterned to resemble the lopped-off trunk of a tree. I have a virtual cemetery of such markers. ~
