Dora Beck Bland was a loving, graceful woman. She was the daughter of Reverend William Aaron and Mary Catherine Southerland Beck.
Aunt Dora was married to Cassius L. Herren, in 1908. He died April 7, 1919 at the age of 55. She had a step-son, Jesse Franklin Herren.
She later married Dr. Joseph E. Bland, in 1925, who also pre-deceased her on October 9th, 1932 , at 71 years of age.
Aunt Dora had no children of her own from either marriage. Aunt Dora was a wonderful woman who loved having me stay with her during my summer vacations. We would play Dominos and Bible board games. She would polish my finger nails which made me feel special because I had never had them polished before.
My dear Aunt Dora had Parkinson's disease.
