WM R Lamb Electrocuted On Top Of Water Tower
William R Lamb, a young man, 22 years of age, employed at the city water and light plant was electrocuted last Friday morning by coming in contact with a live wire on top of the steel water tower of the plant. A wire running from the plant to the light on top of the tower got out of order the night before while Lamb was on duty as a fireman and the following morning he ascended the tower to find the trouble. He cut off the current before making the ascent and twenty minutes afterward his body was discovered on top of the tower by Chief Brown who was returning from the pumping station, four miles west of the city, who noticed the body laying near the edge of the tower 100 feet above the ground.

Lamb had evidently been in a sitting position attempting to fix the connecting wires when he received the shock that killed him, as his body fell backward on the tank after receiving the shock, preventing him from falling to the ground below. His body as lowered to the ground by means of ropes from the tower top.

The wire he was attempting to fix when electrocuted carried only 110 volts and after checking over the switchboard and wires in the plant the city manager is unable to account for the voltage sufficient to cause such an accident, unless the steel tower filled with water upon which he was standing acted as a conductor and that he being unable to extricate himself from the current and that the continued shock killed him.

The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Lamb of this city and his sudden death was a severe shock to the community. Funeral Service were held the following day and interment had in the city cemetery.
