Roy's father, William was the son of Jesse Harrison Tarkington whose father, Burton Tarkington along with his wife Sarah came to Texas when Texas was still part of Mexico and settled in what is known as "Tarkington Prairie, Texas". Located just south of Cleveland Tx in Liberty County. Burton, Sarah and others of the Tarkington family are buried in McGinnis Cemetery, Liberty Co., Tx.
William B. and Ellen Tarkington are buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana, Tx.
Roy married Anna Rosalee Harris in 1918 and they had twins, Ollie Ray & Myrtle Fay Tarkington in 1919 in Corsicana, Tx. They divorced in 1930 and he later married Mary L.Allen. Roy, Mary and Ollie Ray are buried along side each other at Magnolia Cemetery.
Roy's daughter, Faye is buried at Brooke Cemetery, outside of Huntsville Texas.
We'll always remember Roy, (daddy) for his humor and nicknames he gave members of the family.
