Wasilla resident Theard ''Ted'' Peter Achee Jr., 72, died March 28, 1996, at Elmendorf hospital. A memorial service was at Sacred Heart Church on Bogard Road in Wasilla. Chaplain Bert McQueen of the Anchorage Police Department officiated. Burial at sea took place off the coast of Guam in the Marianas Trench in accordance with his wishes.

Mr. Achee was born June 11, 1923, in Boston, and lived and traveled worldwide. He moved to Bethel in 1980 and retired from the Lower Kuskokwim School District and was currently residing in Wasilla. Mr. Achee was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Wasilla Post 9365, Squadron 33 Association, and the Fleet Reserve Association. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1963 and served during the Pacific War, Korean War and Vietnam War. Mr. Achee was an original survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941.

Mr. Achee is survived by his wife, Marion of Egg Harbor City, N.J.; daughters, Marion Ostrowski of Vineland, N.J., and Judy McCauley of De Bary, Fla.; sons, William of Egg Harbor, Jean of Wasilla, and Andre of Bethel; sister, Dorothy Prichard of Ellington, Mo.; brothers, Paul of Phoenix and Robert of Yuma, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
