Bernoy Bradford Obituary

Bernoy Edward "Bernie" Bradford, was born in Arvada, Colorado, on August 15, 1940, to Charlie and Viola Stevens Bradford. He was welcomed home by big brother James Vail and sister Arvilla Louise. Bernie attended school there for a short time before the family moved to Colusa, California, in 1947. His parents purchased the Signal Service Station and Restaurant in Princeton and moved there. Bernie attended grammar school and graduated from Princeton High School in 1959.

He began working for I G Zumwalt Co. right after graduation. He married Claudia Argo in November 1961 and was drafted into the Army in September 1963. He served in Germany until 1965, when he was honorably discharged and came back to Princeton. After returning home he worked at Alderson Ranch Supply and the Princeton Market before going to work as manager at Princeton Codora Glenn Irrigation district in 1969. He was a volunteer Fireman for the Princeton Fire Department for many years. He and Claudia enjoyed many years traveling, cruising and having family around. Their most favorite times were spent in the 5th wheel trailer in Fort Bragg.

Bernie was the proud Father of Kevin Edward born in 1970, and Kathryn Elizabeth born in 1975. He continued for work for the district until 1993, when he took a job as Manager of the Biggs West Gridley Water District. He retired from there in 2008.

He played golf with friends for many years. Bernie and Claudia moved to Yuba City in 2011, to be closer to their children and grandchildren: Ryan Edward Bradford and Kaylynn Irene Ross. He enjoyed his home and friends in Yuba City and had a beautiful yard.

Bernie passed away at The Fountains in Yuba City, on January 31, 2024.

We want to thank The Fountains for the wonderful, caring, compassion and professionalism that they have show Bernie in his 2 years residency. The love and understanding they have shown Claudia is so very appreciated in difficult times. We are so fortunate to have a facility like this in Yuba City.

Bernie leaves behind his wife of 62 years; son, Kevin and wife, Marcelle; daughter, Kathryn; and partner, Pete McAtee; grandchildren, Ryan, Molly and Kaylynn; and many precious nieces, nephews and their families and very dear friends.
