Betty Agnes Cooper Aaron was born in Dalton, Georgia on November 7, 1930 to Velva Lou and Jess Cooper, the middle daughter among her beloved sisters, Eugenia and Lou Ann. Betty met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Vernon Aaron, while attending Reinhardt College in Waleska, Georgia. She and Bob were blessed to share 57 years of marriage and welcomed two sons, Robert (Bob) and Bruce.

Betty and Bob traveled far from their childhood stomping grounds in rural North Georgia and saw much of the world during Bob's 20-year Air Force career, and they made lifelong friends wherever they were stationed. These friendships have grown into generational relationships that endure to this day through the friendships between the children and grandchildren of those families. After Bob's retirement from the military in 1971, Betty and family settled in Arcadia, relocating from Washington DC.

A resident of Arcadia for over 40 years, Betty was a dedicated and well-loved teacher in DeSoto County whose example inspired several of her students to pursue careers in education. Betty loved teaching. It was her passion and calling. Betty was active in many civic organizations in Arcadia including First Baptist Church, the Literary Society, the Historical Society, and Delta Kappa Gamma (an international society for key women educators). Her enthusiasm, kindness, and sense of humor will be forever missed by her many students, friends and family, to whom she always dedicated the full measure of her time, attention, and love.

In addition to teaching, Betty enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, traveling and nature. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family. As a mother, sister, aunt and friend, Betty was first to show up for family or friend in need. She thought deeply and felt deeply. She loved deeply and was deeply loved by her family and friends.

Betty passed peacefully on January 25, 2024 at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota at the age of 93 with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Eugenia, and husband, Bob. Through good times and hard times, Betty and Bob loved one another with all their hearts. Those that knew and loved them take comfort that they are reunited once again.

Betty is survived by her sons Robert Venus (and wife Elaine) of Plantation, Florida and Bruce Cooper (and wife Nattinee) of Sarasota; Grandchildren Abigail, Robert (Plantation) Kellianne (Tallahassee), Dylan (Gainesville), Lily (New York City), Anthony and Catherine (Sarasota); great grandchild Grayson (Plantation); and sister Lou Ann Anderson (Dalton, GA). She also was the beloved aunt and great aunt to five nieces and two nephews.

Betty will be sorely missed by all the family and friends who were blessed by knowing and loving her. Interment service will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 at 9:30 am at Sarasota National Cemetery.
