Myrtle Aarnes
Mrs. Myrtle Hoople Aarnes, 78, daughter of a pioneer North Dakota family and for many years a clerk in a Palo Alto clothing store, died at her home Sunday after a brief illness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Roller & Hapgood, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
Mrs. Aarnes lived in Palo Alto for 20 years. She resided at 216 Emerson St. with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Dora Champlin.
She was born in Hoople, N.D., a small farming community named for her father, who helped found the local school and church there. For many years, Mrs. Aarnes worked at the Westbrook Department Store in Palo Alto.
Mrs. Aarnes was the mother of Mrs. Marian Keer, grandmother of Gerald Keer and great-grandmother of Cynthia Lynn Sizer and Douglas James Sizer, all of Portland, Ore.
Inurnment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.
