Ella Mary Fulton


Mrs. Ella Mary (Phillips) Fulton, the first-born daughter of five children to Mr. Sylvester and Mrs. Ollie Pearl Phillips, was born on February 12, 1950, in Kosciusko, MS.


Mary attended Tipton Street School (Bobcats) where she graduated in 1968. She excelled in her learning, as she was a fanatical reader, and enjoyed her basketball life. She received her early spiritual learning at Wesley United Methodist Church. She ventured up North to Detroit, Michigan for several years. Upon her return home, she worked at Bluff Springs until her mother's health required her to become her primary caretaker. She spent her latter years enjoying her grandchildren.


After a long battle with illness, she departed as our Heavenly Father summoned our dear mother to be reunited with her parents, siblings, niece, and nephew.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Pearl Phillips, and Sylvester Phillips; four siblings, Willie Jack Phillips, William Edgar Phillips, Sammie Leroy Phillips, and Annie Kate Phillips; one niece and nephew, Jackie Phillips, William Kern


She leaves to cherish her precious memories six children, Michelle (James) Hughes-Peoples of Detroit, MI; David (Gene) Hughes, Jr., of San Antonio, TX; Kellian "Lee Lee" (Tasha) Hughes of Houston, TX; Lakeishe (Larry) Hughes-Gentry of Kosciusko, MS; Sylestra "Dee Dee" Hughes of Carthage, MS; Avie Kate "AK" Hughes of Carthage, MS; nineteen grandchildren, Selena Hughes, Tianna Hughes, Ikeem Hughes, Tiara Hughes, Victoria Crain, Shala Lindsley, Kayla Turner, Kristen Hughes, Ethan White, Evan White, Adam Hughes, Andre Hughes, Antwon Gentry, Alex Gentry, Kevin Hughes, Terrance Elmore, Jazir Williams, Lanai Thomas, Jamiya Miller; twelve great-grandchildren, A'abrielle Hughes, Jamaar Hughes, Kamarion Gentry, Jacaveon Elmore, Zaria Hughes, Jayla Brown, Cayden Turner, Peyton Lindsley, Ja'anna Douglas, Essence Cheatom, Tyrone Hughes, Tyqwone Hughes; two nephews, Rubio (Candace) Phillips, William Phillips; three nieces, Ollie Kern, Felicia Kern, Kim Robinson; one sister-in-law, Doris Phillips; one sister-in-love, Almeda Weathers.
