Frans was a tragic Belgian civilian victim of WWI. He and his two brothers sustained fatal injuries in an air raid over Kortrijk on March 24, 1918 --- Palm Sunday. Struck by a bomb in the courtyard of the brewery in Bissegam, where they were sheltering, the brothers all died of their injuries "a short time later", according to their prayer cards.
