Beatrice Mary Almassey, nee Derby, of Villa Park, age 84, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February, 7, 2024. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 65 years, Richard. Loving mother of Beverly (Randy) Barger, Richard (Cindy) Almassey and Sharyn (John) Sather; devoted Nana of Michael (Brianna) Almassey, Thomas Almassey (fiancée Ashley), Michelle Barger, and Ashley Barger; fond sister of Judith (the late James) Horne. She is preceded in death by her loving parents James and Beatrice, nee Heckart, Derby and brother James Derby Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bea was born in Chicago and graduated from Maria High School and College of DuPage. She met her husband, Rich, in 1953 and they married on June 6, 1959. They lived in the Roseland neighborhood and then moved to Villa Park in 1971, where they continued to raise their three children. Beyond being a mother, Bea was a volunteer and sang in the St. Alexander Church Choir for many years and coordinated St. Columbanus Grade School Reunions for the class of 1953. She worked at Whirlpool Acceptance Corporation for 18 years and began a resume business, "Busy Bee", where she designed and edited resumes.

Bea will be remembered for her outgoing and vivacious personality. She had a unique ability to welcome many people into her heart, always lend an open ear, and provide insight to those she loved and deeply cared for. She taught by example how to be compassionate and loving towards others as she truly lived out the Catholic faith that she loved so much. Bea loved selecting and giving special gifts and cards to those she cared about and always cherished the gifts received from others. She was truly a special person to many people and will be sorely missed.
