Musician. A tenor saxophonist who graduated from Jordan High School in Los Angeles, California. In 1952 she was discovered by bandleader and talent scout Lionel Hampton and appeared with his swing band in the 1957 film "Mister Rock and Roll." She is also known for her recording of Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man," arranged by Sly Stone in 1964.
