FATAL ACCIDENT
On Friday last (April 14, 1893), Bro. Manasseh Weber, of the township of Wilmot, and his hired men were in the woods cutting wood. A tree they were felling struck another tree in its descent and a branch flew back and struck Br. Weber on his head breaking his skull. With difficulty, the hired men partly led and partly carried him home. He died at one o'clock the next morning at the comparatively early age of 34 years, 3 months and 14 days, leaving a sorrowing widow and five small children to mourn their loss. He was a faithful member of the Mennonite church for the last two years. He was buried on the 17th in Weber's cemetery near Strasburg where a large number of people assembled to pay their last tribute of respect. Funeral services were conducted by Moses S. Bowman in German from Matt. 24:44, and by Noah Stauffer in English from Isa. 28:29.
