was a life long resident and retired
chief of police of Montgomery
and a 43 year veteran
of the police department, Mr.
Barker was a member of Montgomery
Baptist Church and a
50 year member of Montgomery
Eagles Lodge. Surviving are his
wife, Viola; a daughter, Mrs
Bertha Matics of Handley;
five step-daughters, Miss Kath
erine Thurmond of Montgomery
Mrs. Alma Simms of Ravens-
wood, Mrs. Garnet Nagy and
Mrs. Theora Whitlock both ol
Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs
Frances Barton of Charleston; a
sister, Mrs. Oscar Garrett of
Montgomery; a brother, Dave
Barker of Oak Hill; two grand
children and five great-grand
children. Service will be held a;
3:30 p. m. Wednesday in Mont
gomery Baptist Church by Rev
Howard Franklin. Burial will be
in Montgomery Memorial Park
at London. The body will be
taken to the church by B. C
