The Wood River Sunbeam

Benjamin Compton, son of Seth, New Burlington, Green county, Ohio, and Mary Compton, was born on July 11, 1848. Died at the home of his son near Haines, Baker county, Oregon, December 6, 1919. Aged seventy-one years, four months and twenty-five days.

On August 22, 1867, he was married to Margaret Walthal, to this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters; A. M. Compton of Verona, Montana; T. W. Compton of Wood River; Seth Compton of Bird City, Kansas; W. F. Compton, Mary E. White and Ethel Compton all of Haines, Oregon, who with their mother survive him.

He was a birthright member of the Society of Friends and was very active in church and Sunday school work al through his life. And died in a full assurance that he would hear that welcome call "Well Don thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord."

Mr. Compton had been a resident of Harrison for many years until about a year since when he moved to Haines, Oregon and has since made his home there.
