Charles Robert Griggs, 65, died at his home in the Sanderson bridge neighborhood at 6 p.m., Sunday, August 4, as the result of an attack of heart failure. He was born in Missouri, April 25, 1870, and had been a resident of Oregon for the last 50 years, spending his active life as a farmer.

Mr. Griggs was first married to Miss Nancy Sumpter who died in 1915. He was married the second time, April 28, 1923, to Emma Kinzer who survives him. He is also survived by the following children by his first wife: Earl, Harold, Clyde and Mrs. Helen Ward, all of Salem and Edna Griggs, living in California. Funeral announcements will be made later by the Fisher-Braden funeral directors.
