AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Faustine B. "Rocky" Romero Jr., 68, of Brown Road, entered into rest Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Eisenhower Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Avis Geneva Romero. Funeral Mass will be 11a.m., Friday, June 21, 2002, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Edward Frank Celebrant. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Romero is survived by ten children, Faustine Romero, Marvin Romero, Charles Romero, Leo Romero, Julian Romero, Terry Creswell, Ernest Creswell, Jerry Newman, Avis Hamlet, Tina Foster. Additional survivors are many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alexandria Salazar and Kathleen Lael; one brother, John Romero; nieces and nephews. Mr. Romero retired from the U.S. Army, after 33 years of service. During his career he served in 82ND and 101st. Airborne Division/Calvary. He was a ranger and also a part of Special Forces. He also served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Mr. Romero was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The Holy Rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at 7p.m., at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, with visitation following.
