Dean Otis Babcock died at the home of his parents at Babcock Station, April 27, at 6:10 o'clock, p.m., after an illness of four months. He was first taken down with pneumonia, which was followed by congestion of the brain. The funeral was held at the Porter Congregational church at 1 o'clock, p.m., May 1, the services being conducted by Rev. C. A. Brown, and the remains were laid to rest in Robbins' cemetery at McCool.

Deceased was born at Wanego, Kansas, on March 9, 1893, and at the time of his death was 17 years, 1 month and 18 days old. He was one of eight children born to William H. And Christina L. Babcock, and was a young man of good promise and high character. He was a sophomore in the Chesterton High School, and popular with all who knew him. His death comes as a sad blow to mourning friends and relatives. He bore his suffering patiently and was resigned to go when the death summons came.
