Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence Archer were held from the family home in Ripley last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Cunningham, of Gay, in charge, assisted by Rev. W. L. Kelly, of Ripley. Burial was in Pine Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Archer had been seriously ill for several days and death came at her home here last Thursday night. The family formerly lived at Gay but several years ago moved to Ripley where Mr. Archer has been employed by the United Fuel Gas Company.

Bertha Williams, daughter of Dan and Martha Williams, was born near Gay, February 16, 1884 and departed this life at her home at Ripley, December 31, 1936, aged 52 years, 10 months and 15 days. She was married to Clarence Archer on September 19, 1903 and to this union one son, Ray Archer, was born. She was converted at about the age of 16 and united with the Elk Fork M. P. church about the year 1905, of which she was still a member. She lived a consistent Christian life and bore her long suffering with Christian faith and patience. She never grew tired of reading her Bible and talking of her hope of gaining that blessed home which Christ has promised his children. She always looked on the bright side and tried to comfort those in distress or trouble. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, son and daughter-in-law, her aged mother, her father having preceded her in death about 20 months ago, one brother, Otha Williams, of Kenna, and a host of friends.
