SPRINGDALE - Eva Lee McDonald Armstrong, 88, of Springdale, passed away April 27, 2008, at The Maples in Springdale. She was the firstborn of eight children of Huey Rodney and Hattie Viola Stuart Thompson. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leta Wilson and Dorothy Davis; one brother, Bob Thompson; and one infant son Oliver Jr.

Mrs. Armstrong was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for the past 28 years and had many customers and friends. She loved being outdoors and working in her garden. She seemed to have a green thumb because every year her flowers were beautiful and brought her much happiness.

Her early childhood years were spent in Calico Rock, where the Thompson family lived. As a young adult she moved to Harrison where she met and married Oliver McDonald. They made their home in Harrison until 1958 when they moved to Berryville where Mr. McDonald was local manager of AP&L. From there they moved to Washington State and later to California where they lived until 1967 then they came to Springdale where they owned and operated the "Y" Grocery. Mr. McDonald suffered a stroke in 1978 and passed away. They were married for 40 years. In August 1993 she married Larry Armstrong who passed away in 2001. She was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale where she enjoyed her church family and Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her three children, Ola Sue Summers and husband, Bob, of Berryville, Bill McDonald and wife, Judy, of Springdale and Jeanie Hittson and husband, Jimmy, of Pea Ridge; four grandchildren, Kerry Offenbacker and husband, Eric, Kirk McDonald and wife, Tina, Jim Ed Summers and wife, Callie, and Matt Summers and wife, Beth; 12 grandchildren, Kelsey Offenbecker, Kyler Offenbacker, Kord Offenbacker, Hayden McDonald, Ryne McDonald, Hattie McDonald, Ellyette McDonald, Lindley Summers, Kellen Summers, Landon Summers, Page Summers and Justus Summers; three sisters, Jimmie Green and husband, James, of Vancouver, Wash., Wanda Davis of Burlington, and Betty Jo Dodson of Higden; one brother, Roy Thompson of Sun Valley, Nev. She leaves her good friend A. D. Burkett, a host of friends and family.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, April 28 at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Tom Shaw and the Rev. Darryl Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Bluff Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kirk McDonald, Jim Ed Summers, Matt Summers, Eric Offenbecker, Scott Hittson and Carl Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden McDonald, Ryne McDonald, Kellen Summers, Landon Summers, Justus Summers and Page Summers, Kyler Offenbacker and Kord Offenbacker.
