WILLIAM DIED IN THE FLOOD ON JUNE 9, 1972
William was born to William Albers and Cora Smith Albers in Litchfield NE, he married Florence Hansen.
He was employed by Custon Pack and Black Hills Packing Plant from 1955 until his death.
A relatives said the night of the flood he was helping people cross a bridge from a trailer court near the Packing Plant in Rapid City, when the wall of water hit his car crossing the bridge. " He was a hero, placing himself in danger in order to save others."
He was survived by his wife Florence, and sons Bill, Tim and Gary Albers all of Rapid City SD. And a daughter Susie Lewis.
