Benjamin Mendenhall, of Ramsbury, Wiltshire, England, s/o Thomas and Joane (Stroude) Mendenhall, was married to Ann (Pennell) Mendenhall with whom he had 10 children, Ann, Benjamin, Joseph, Moses, Hannah, Samuel, Rebecca, Ann, Nathan and Robert Mendenhall. Benjamin was an original Mendenhall immigrant to America, having arrived in Pennsylvania Colony on April 17, 1685 from Mildenhall, Wiltshire, England. He was trained as a wheelwright and made his living in that trade until he accumulated enough land to farm. Benjamin, who served one term in the Assembly, primarily devoted his energies to the service of the Society of Friends of which he was a member at Concord Meeting.
