Mrs. Jayne was born May 9, 1884, in Effingham county, a daughter of Jesse and Mariah(Dow)Clagg. She married Richard Handley in 1902. She married Cassius C. Jayne in 1906, and he preceded her in death in 1937.
She was a member of Bogota Christian Church. Surviving are two sons, Jasper Jayne of Newton and Tony Jayne of Salem; two daughters, Elsie Mae Hamilton of Wheeler and Goldie Finn of Manteno; three step-children, Faye Jayne of Wichita, Kans., Mrs. Chlora Watkins of Wichita, Kans., and Mrs. Lora Woltzen of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Fannie Bailey of Watson and Anna Rawlings of Dietrich; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two sons, two brothers, and three sisters.
