Minnie Jayne, 89, of Wheeler, died at 8:10 a.m., Friday, April 26, 1974, at Newton Rest Haven. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Newton with Rev. Leslie Osburn officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery near Bogota.
Mrs. Jayne was born May 9, 1884, in Effingham county, a daughter of Jesse and Mariah(Dow)Clagg. She married Richard Handley in 1902. She married Cassius C. Jayne in 1906, and he preceded her in death in 1937.
She was a member of Bogota Christian Church. Surviving are two sons, Jasper Jayne of Newton and Tony Jayne of Salem; two daughters, Elsie Mae Hamilton of Wheeler and Goldie Finn of Manteno; three step-children, Faye Jayne of Wichita, Kans., Mrs. Chlora Watkins of Wichita, Kans., and Mrs. Lora Woltzen of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Fannie Bailey of Watson and Anna Rawlings of Dietrich; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two sons, two brothers, and three sisters.
