ILLNESS FATAL TO J.E. AUSTIN

Dies at Home of Daughter On Central Avenue: Funeral Services This Afternoon.

J.E. Austin died yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Austin made his home with his daughter, Mrs. S.H. Long of 1925 Central avenue. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at McEwen Funeral home in Monroe, and interment will be in Walters cemetery near Monroe.

Mr. Austin, son of the late John E. and Lavina Hamilton Austin, was born October 17, 1859. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. C.W. Sims of Waxhaw, Mrs. Elma Carwell of Catawba, Mrs. S.H. Long and Mrs. A.P. Sell of Charlotte, and Mrs. W.L. Walters of Monroe; three sons, R.E. Austin of Charlotte, M.E. Austin of Mint Hill and G.E. Austin of Trenton, N.J.; three sisters, one brother, 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
