She was born June 8, 1914, in Sherburne, the daughter of Leslie and Ethelyn Billinger Blanding. She married Joseph Ewen on Sept. 8, 1934, in Sherburne. He died in 1970. She married Peter Chrispell on Sept. 3,1972, in ACton. He died in 1977. She lived in Sherburne for most of her life and worked for several years for Balch's Department Store in Sherburne, retiring in 1970. She also at one time worked for Carr Dry Cleaners and Laundry in Sherburne. She was a member of the Sherburne United Methodist Church, a member of the Sherburne Lodge No. 631 OES, the Norwich Senior Citizens and the Chenango County Law Enforcement Officers Association, of which she was past secretary and treasurer.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Sandra) Cleveland, Earlville; two sons, Jack Ewen, Oneonta, and Bruce Ewen, Detroit, Mich.; two brothers; and nine grandchildren. Services will be arranged by the Burgess Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, at a time to be announced.
