Grandfather/DziaDzia of many. Peter said his mother was an opera singer. It has been said, that Peter was orphaned and worked in a Russian work camp. He escaped on one of the last ships out of Poland/Russia. He immigrated to the United States in 1908, staying with relatives in Bay City. Peter then began working in the coal mines of Bay County for many years. He met Helen Malecki and married her on May 22, 1911 in Bay City and they began their family. Peter enjoyed gardening for himself and others. He grew beautiful roses in his garden. Also had a landscape business. Spoke fluent Polish & Russian. Played the flute or violin while dancing a Polish jig. He loved to eat pumpernickel bread with lard and oatmeal. Now and then, Peter enjoyed a small glass of wine or beer. He always stood like he was at attention. Favorite color, red. The color of the Polish flag. He was a member of the Polish Eagle Society and was buried with his eagle medal. He resided at 1609 S. VanBuren Street. Peter was a good man and hard worker.
