Amanda Haseltine Johnson Copas, 88, of Johnson City passed away from natural causes Sunday, June 25, 2006 at NHC Healthcare. She was a native of Poteau, Oklahoma but lived most of her life in Johnson City.


Mrs. Copas was a daughter of the late Walter L. and Agnes Virginia Fields Johnson. She was a homemaker and worked at White City Laundry as well as a caregiver to the elderly. Mrs. Copas was a member of the Salvation Army Chapel as well as the Fall Street Chapel.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Copas was preceded in death by her husband, Laney Hubert Copas in 1865; four sons, James William, Charles Leroy, Bobby Joe and Jackie Copas; a daughter Virginia Copas and two brothers, Ed and Frank Johnson.


Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Lee Carver of Johnson City and Nadine Miller and husband Bucky of Gray; three sons, Maynard Copas, Walter Laney (Buster) Copas and wife, Linda and Spencer Eugene Copas and wife, JoAnn, all of Johnson City.
