Delia Boatner was the only daughter and youngest child of James William Boatner [born Anite Co, MS], an Attorney, and a 1839 graduate of Harvard Law School and Courtney Ann McCay born 1824 in Covington, St. Tammany Parish, LA. They were married 7 November 1843 in Pike County, MS. They were the parents of four known children. Delia Boatner Moody as mentioned, Robert McCay Boatner born in MS in 1847 and died between 1885-1900 in Goliad County, Texas [FAG#27873898], Mciver {McKeever} born 1849 in LA and worked for the Railroads. He died after the 1900 census which shows him living in LA.[Burial location unknown] And Harry [Henry] C Boatner who was born in LA in 1851. He was a stone cutter who lived in various places in Texas such as Galveston, Dallas It is likely that Harry Boater who died ca 1895 is buried in the family plot in the Greenwood Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.[FAG#28103921] This is where his wife and infant daughter are buried in marked graves. Cemetery records indicate that there was a space with his name on it, but records do not indicate that he is actually buried in it. It is also likely that Courtney Ann McCay Boatner is also buried in an unmarked grave in this plot near her daughter in law and grandchild in Greenwood Cemetery. After James W Boatner died in ca 1870 and the estate was settled, Delia's widowed mother [Courtney Ann] and members of her family came to Texas to seek their fortunes. She married Enoch G. Mays Jr. in 1877 in Anderson County. There was one child Camille Mays born of this marriage. She was divorced in 1884 in Dallas, Texas, and in 1886 remarried John M. Moody in Midland, Texas. Two more children, Norma and Hallie were born of this marriage. One other child died in infancy. In 1903, the family moved to the North side of Ft. Worth when the new packing houses were opened. John worked in the real estate business on the north side until his death in 1911. She was able to draw her husband's Union Civil War pension after his death. Delia lived in a house at 2401 Clinton Drive. She died in 1922. Her grave is unmarked.
