Alma Bowman VerWiebe, age 90, West Broyles Road, Chuckey, the South Central community, Tennessee, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at her home.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Casi Full Gospel Church as long as her health permitted.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Thomas and JoAnne VerWiebe, of the South Central community, Norman VerWiebe, of Duncanville, TX, Judith and Ken Manka, of Blairsville, GA, and Philip VerWiebe, of Jonesborough; Grandchildren and their spouses: Pamela and Ronnie Brown, Bart VerWiebe and fiance, Melissa Braswell, and daughter, Charlotte Braswell, all of the South Central community, John Chris and Tonna VerWiebe, of Duncanville, TX, and Serena Whitson, of Jonesborough; Great grandchildren: Emily Brown and Austin Brown, of the South Central community, Samantha Rose VerWiebe and John Keith VerWiebe, of Duncanville, TX; Sister-in-law: Catherine VerWiebe Dirette, of Detroit, MI; Several Nieces and nephews; Special friend and caregiver: Teresa Broyles, of Limestone.

She was the daughter of the late Jim and Missouri Mercer Bowman and was preceded in death by her husband: Claude E. VerWiebe; three sisters: Hassie Barham, Wavel Morelock and Lenna Waddell; three brothers: Allie Bowman, Otis Bowman and Hurley Bowman.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, at Kiser Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Jim Fields and the Rev. Shawn Broyles will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be: Bart VerWiebe, Chris VerWiebe, Tommy Waddell, Clay Kyker, Arthur Hoxie and Sam Burchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Michael Hartsell, Dr. George Vinsant and the staff and nurses of Caris Hospice.

The body will remain at Kiser Funeral Home throughout the services. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday preceding the funeral service. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Kiser Funeral Home to go in procession for the committal service.
