Sarah was the second born illegitimate child of Malinda Diamond and William Clay, of Giles County, Virginia. (Giles County was formed in 1806.)

Giles Co VA Order Bk 1 stipulates William was ordered to pay child support on two bastard children begotten on the body of Malinda Diamond. He had refused to pay and been taken to court yet again. He had admitted these were his children. It is believed most, if not all, of Malinda's children were that of William Clay.

DNA evidence supports the claim that Sarah was the biological child of William Clay.

Sarah married Jacob Hiram Rowe, Sr, at Gallia County, Ohio on 27 Feb 1827.

She died circa 1855.

She is listed on the 1850 Pike County, Kentucky census, however, on the 1860 census, Jacob is living with their daughter, at Ferrells Creek, and Sarah is not listed.

The photograph added by another Find A Grave member is NOT that of Sarah Sally Diamond Rowe. She had died long before this photo would have been taken. This is a photo of her son Charles Edmond Rowe and his family, along with his mother in law.
