Thomas Fitzgerald, 10th Earl of Kildare was born in 1513.He was the son of Gerald , 9th Earl of Kildare and Elizabeth Zouche.He married Frances Fortescue, daughter of Sir Adrian Fortescue, before December 1529. He was executed 3 February 1537 at Tyburn ,London with his five uncles and buried" Crost Freeres in the qwere"

He summoned the council to St. Mary's Abbey, Dublin, and on 11 June 1534, accompanied by 140 armoured gallowglasses with silk fringes on their helmets (from which he got his nickname), rode to the abbey and publicly renounced his allegiance to his cousin King Henry VIII, Lord of Ireland. The following July his supporters had melted away and he submitted to the King . Sent to the Tower of London for High Treason he was condemned to death.
