Marriage Records indicate Zadock was first married to Amanda Eliza "Mattie" Veitch in 1881. Amanda Vietch is believed to have died in 1885, and he subsequently married Melissa "Lissie" McCrary (1861-1950).

1882 Loose Records, Jefferson County, Alabama Probate of Estate of Isaac Veitch. Isaac Veitch died in Oxmoor, Alabama, 25 December 1881. Heirs named were: Mary Veitch, widow George Veitch Barbary, wife of James Ross, under 21 Amanda, wife of (blank) Ware, under 21 - both husbands over 21 William Veitch, under 21 Mary Veitch, under 14 Gilbert Veitch, under 14 Henry Veitch, under 14 James Veitch, under 14 Probate papers were signed by Mary Veitch, Ellis Veitch, and Henry Veitch 1882. Original Woodruff Index Box No. 89 New Jefferson County Estate Case File Box No. 125 File Folder 44 of 65.


Additional Comments: The (blank) Ware above was Zadoc 'Doc' Ware, son of Jeptha M. Ware and Adeline Amanda Rockett. These families were originally around the Oxmoor/Wenonah area, but later moved north to Partridge Crossroads/Corner area of Jefferson County.
