Deceased Name: Services Monday for Waymon Bryant, 75
Services will be Monday for Waymon Bryant, 75, a retired Dallas police officer and Dallas County Sheriff's Department bailiff. He died Wednesday at his Dallas home of congestive heart failure.

Mr. Bryant began working as a Dallas County police officer in 1948, according to his son, Daniel Bryant of Dallas. "He did a little bit of everything. It was a more universal job then. " His son said that Mr. Bryant worked as a patrolman and a detective and served warrants. He was assigned as a motorcycle patrolman on John F. Kennedy's route the day the president was assassinated in 1963.

In 1973, Mr. Bryant retired from the Police Department and went to work for the Dallas County Sheriff's Department as a bailiff in the 304th District Court.

Craig Penfold, who was presiding judge for the 304th District Court from 1976 to 1986, said Mr. Bryant was a man of the "highest integrity" who "gave 110 percent every day. " Mr. Bryant's son said that his father was most proud of his 23 years of volunteer work with Boys' Baseball Inc., a group sponsored by the Dallas Police Association. Mr. Bryant worked with one team that was a national champion.

In addition to his son Daniel, Mr. Bryant is survived by son Michael Bryant of Pflugerville, Texas; two daughters, April Fitzgerald and Wanda Tierney of Dallas; a brother, R.V. Bryant of Worcester, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Anderson-Clayton Brothers Chapel in Mesquite. Graveside services will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Bogota Cemetery in Bogota, Texas
