Daniel passed away at age 25 in Baltimore, and was buried September 23.
The middle name of 'Singer', which graces the middle of name of many of the Dexter's, came from an English officer who had the name of 'Singer'. He had become acquainted with John Dexter (born in Providence, Rhode Island 1718) and his family. Officer Singer was considered to be a good scholar, and stayed with John Dexter and his family for many years, teaching the Dexter children. He was considered to be a good man, and a treasured friend of the family. Many Dexter's adopted his name as their middle name in reverence and respect.
