Edwin William Griffin, 83, of 52 Holabird Avenue, Winsted, CT, formerly of 522 Charles Street, New Milford, NJ, died on Thursday, July 4, 1974 in Winsted Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Winsted and lived in New Jersey most of his life until returning back in 1968. Edwin was a World War I veteran and a former fire commissioner for the New Milford Fire Company No. 2. Beloved husband of Gladys (nee Allen) Griffin. Devoted father of William Griffin of Monsey and Mary Bodger of Saddle River. Dear brother of Ida (Arthur Joseph) Welcome of New Haven. Loving grandfather of 2 grandchildren. Visitation was offered on Saturday, July 6, 1974 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the John Joseph Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted, CT 06098. The funeral was officiated in the funeral home on Sunday, July 7, 1974 at 2 PM by John Betourney, the summer pastor of the First Church and the Church of Christ, both in Winsted. Interment followed at the Forest View Cemetery in Winsted. Memorial donations would be appreciated to the Saint Andrew's Masonic Temple Association Building Fund, 27 Wheeler Street, Winsted, CT 06098.
