It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and aunt – Genevieve O. Carbajal, on November 24, 2023 after a sudden and unexpected illness.

She was born April 27, 1961 at Ft. Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas to Martin J. & Gloria O. Ayala. Genevieve was beautiful in every way. She had a smile that would light up any room. She was generous of spirit and demonstrated that true beauty is borne through our actions, aspirations, and in the kindness we offer to others. She loved to dance, travel, collect items from her adventures, enjoyed good times with family & friends and often talked fondly of her cats. She was always a protective big sister to her siblings and brothers-in-law and the best aunt to her nieces and nephews.

She worked numerous assignments within the Air Force civilian work force spanning 30 years, finishing with the Air Force Recruiting Office here in Tucson as an Executive Administrative Secretary, where she was admired and respected by her colleagues. Genevieve believed that life does not truly end with death and it is in that same faith that we will carry on until we are reunited again.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her father, Martin Ayala and brother, Martin John. She is survived by her mother Gloria Ayala, sisters – Olivia (Steve) Armenta, Elisa (Mark) Nisbet, Yvonne (Juan) Alvarez, & Michelle (Chris) Drake. Nephews – Douglas, Thomas, and Steven (Ashley) Nisbet. Nieces – Selena Alvarez, Alicia (Eric) Prichard, Michaela (Cole) McClarren, ten great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There are no words to express the magnitude of how much Genevieve will be missed by her family, friends, and coworkers. We were truly blessed to have Genevieve in our lives and we pray that she carries with her to heaven all the memories and the abundance of love we have for her forever in our hearts.

A visitation for Genevieve will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.

A funeral service will take place Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712, with a graveside service to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
