Clay Sparks Dead

Clay Sparks, well known in Morgan County dropped dead on a train in Oklahoma Monday of this week. Particulars surrounding his sudden demise are not available at this time. It is reported that he was going to the home of a sister and expired on the train shortly after boarding it. Nace Otten, son of Charley Otten of Versailles, was the conductor on the train and wrote to his father telling of the passing.
Clay has visited in Versailles and Glensted during the summer and had but recently returned to Oklahoma.

Funeral of Clay Sparks Held at Glensted Sunday
The funeral services for Clay Sparks who dropped dead on a train near Seminole, Oklahoma were held at the Glensted Methodist Church Sunday. Rev. Sullens conducted the service. Clay was 56 years old at the time of his death. He had recently returned to Oklahoma from a several weeks' visit with relatives in Morgan County.

James Clay Sparks was born near Glensted July 6, 1876 and died August 13, 1933 at Fininole (?), Oklahoma. In 1901 he was married to Miss Ella Turner. To this union was born one son, Roy of
El Reno, Oklahoma. In 1916 he was married to Miss Ella Graham. To this union was born a son Clay Jr. and a daughter, Billy, who with their mother live at Wilson, Oklahoma.
Mr. Sparks was reared in Morgan County and as a young man migrated to Oklahoma where he had spent most of his adult life. For 18 years he has been in the employment of the Rock Island Railway Company as an engineer. This summer he had made an extended visit with relatives in Missouri. As he was on his way to his home in Wilson, Oklahoma he was seized with an attack of heart trouble from which he did not recover. The remains were interred in Glensted Cemetery Sunday, August 20.
Besides a wife and three children Mr. Sparks is survived by four brothers and two sisters: Frank of Denver, Walter and Mrs. Eulah Carver of Tacoma, Washington, Luther of Oklahoma City, Elmer of Sedalia and Mrs. Richard Morris of Glensted.
