William Edward "Ed" Bolejack was 68 years 2 m and 16 d at his death. He was the husband of Mary Styers Bolejack. In 1900 they lived in the Sandy Ridge community of Guildford County.

Ed was in the civil war. He was wounded and lost the front part of his foot to a gunshot wound. His legend says that he rode off of the battlefield on General Lee's horse and kept salt on the wound so his foot or leg wouldn't have to be amputated. he was sent home on the train and he used to tell that he held the injured foot out the window so water could drip on it. Ed was a talker and loved telling war stories.
