Lifelong Alaskan Robert Michael Jaidinger, 48, died Sept. 1, 1997, at the Alaska Native Medical Center. A funeral was held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Steele of the First Church of God officiating. Visitation was held before the service. Burial followed the funeral in the Angelus Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers included Dan Rinner, Jerry Ward, Don Thronsen, Tim Akers, and Bill and Bruce Jaidinger.
Mr. Jaidinger was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Anchorage, and graduated from East High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was based in Thailand. He was trained as a combat engineer. A pilot, Mr. Jaidinger, had worked for Sea-Airmotive, Stebbin-Ambler Air Transport, Gifford Aviation and Woods Air Service. He flew twin Otters, C-119 Flying Boxcars, DC-6s and DC-3s. His family said he had a terrific love of flying and enjoyed reading and music. A family member said: ''Bob was one of the few people you meet that never said or did an unkind thing to anyone. He was always pleasant to be around. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.'' Mr. Jaidinger was preceded in death by his father, Stanley; and brother, Buddy.
He is survived by his daughter, June Frances of South Naknek; his mother, June of Nikiski; and brothers, Bruce of Anchorage, and Bill of Glennallen. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Jaidinger's family asks that memorial donations be directed to an education fund for his daughter at the National Bank of Alaska. Arrangements are by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
