Death Comes In California To Former Manhattanite
Mrs. Gladys Barrett Riley, 47, a former resident of Manhattan, died Tuesday at Los Angeles general hospital where she had been a patient suffering from body burns.
Mrs. Riley was born May 28, 1899 in Manhattan. She was the daughter of Charles J. Barrett and Maude Allman Barrett. During her youth she attended the city schools and college here.
On Aug. 3, 1918 she was married to Dr. G. A. Riley. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Nebraska living some time in Lincoln. Later they moved to California where she was residing at Pico (actually Bell) at the time of her death.
Early in her life she was baptized and became a member of the Baptist Church. After her marriage she became a member of the Methodist church with her husband.
There are two children surviving, Captain Robert Riley of New York City and Mrs. Irene Clingman of Bell, Calif. Other relatives include one sister, Mrs. Irene Archer of Geneva Ill., one aunt, Mrs. Charles Tull of Manhattan and three uncles, W. S. Allman, H. W. Allman, and C. L. Allman, all of Manhattan.
