The pallbearers were R.L. Hinds, Wm. Fuhrer, J.H. Crockett, W.L. Bowman, John Sharp and Art Bohling.
Interment was made Sunday afternoon in the Davenport Cemetery.
Clara I Padgett, daughter of J.S. and Sarah R. Padgett, was born December 16, 1872 in Barren County, Kentucky.
At the age of twenty she moved to Colorado with her parents, living there until the fall of 1893 when the family moved to a farm near Davenport, Nebraska.
On July 10, 1898 she was married to B. Frank Lowery at Davenport where they made their home until 1935 when they moved to Middleton, Mo. She lived at Middleton until she passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 1945 at the age of 72 years, five months and six days.
Mrs. Lowery was the mother of six children, all of whom were born and reared in Davenport and all of whom survive except the second daughter, Rose Marie who died December 20, 1932.
She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Ruth, Mrs. R.L. Sanner of Davenport; Ruby, Mrs. E.R. Stapleton of Searcy, Arkansas; Lillian, Mrs. D.H. Sanner of Davenport; and Florence, Mrs. J.E. Bartley, of Joiner, Arkansas and one son J. Frank Lowery of Wellington, Mo.; and thirteen grandchildren. Mrs. Lowery was the oldest of five children, the other four being Carlos L. Padgett of Billings, Montana; Oscar R. of Inglewood, California; Mrs. Earl D. Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho; and Mrs. Arvid R. Olson of Haywood, Calif. Several cousins and other relatives also survive and many friends where ever she was known.
At the age of fifteen, she was baptized and remained faithful in the Church of Christ, showing special interest in Bible study classes and in song services. She was always interested in the social and intellectual improvement of the community. She taught in the Thayer County schools and served as a member of the Davenport School Board for a number of years and was actively associated with the Woman's Club, being a charter member.
Many daughters have done worthily,
But thou excellest them all.
Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
But a woman that feareth Jehovah,
She shall be praised.
