Allen Eugene Wells, 88, of Crossville, passed away April 9, 2003. Funeral services were conducted April 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bros. Phil Jenkins and Wade Webster officiating. Special music was provided by the Crossville Church of Christ Singers. Graveside committal services were held April 12 at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. Wells was born May 24, 1914 in Cumberland County, TN, the son of Noah and Chloe Burgess Wells.
He was a salesman for L.P. Shanks Co. and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Pace Wells of Crossville; son, Jerry E. Wells of Oxnard, CA; daughter, Joyce Anita Chadwell of Fort Smith, AR; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Moses, Cordell, Paul and Ernest Wells; and sisters, Margaret Wells, Dorothy Wells, Eva Turner, Nannie Gentry and Louise Carson.
Pallbearers were deacons of the church. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Brown, Bill Foland, Steve Hassler, Clyde Randolph, Jim Rogers, Joe Eller and Ken Scarbrough.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Church of Christ Library or Tennessee Children's Home.
Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
