Thelma M. Stultz, 78, of Terre Haute, died at 7:35 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, in Union Hospital. She was born April 9, 1930, in Clinton, to Ernest Carlin and Hildred Hayne. She drove a school bus for Vigo County and attended Camp Bluebird. She also was a seamstress and decorated cakes.

Survivors included her daughter, Mary Ellen Tarwater; three sisters, Margaret Harvey of Rockville, Barbara Ripple of Staunton, and Patricia Darkis of Brazil; one grandchild, Courtney Elizabeth; two stepsisters, Shirley Pounds of Terre Haute and Donna Keleen of Noblesville; special friends, Dewey Phillips and Stan Weinzapfel; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; stepfather, John Winn; one sister, Velma Wade; and one brother, Bobby Joe Carlin.

Funeral services are 7 p.m. Monday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., with the Rev. Joe Gregory officiating. Burial is in Burnett. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
