From the research of Danny and Dolores Bohn: Baptized William Alfred Bryant Mattingly, 9-10-1850, at St. Rose Catholic Church; birth date given as 3-27-1850; Parents: James Raymond Mattingly and Juliana.

First wife was Mary Elizabeth Mattingly 10-15-1846 to about 1899. She was a daughter of John Clark Mattingly and Sarah Ann Clements. His second wife was Mary Frances Charlotte "Lottie" Boone, daughter of Robert Ignatius Boone and Elizabeth Johnson.

Buried in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Mary's, Ky. Section D, Card 42, #110. The book about St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery states that his marker shows, "William A. Mattingly b. 1850 d. 1910."
