MRS. SIMMS DIES AT 84 - MRS. ELIZA SIMMS, 84, a native of Marion County, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, January 9, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, where she had been under treatment since December 11. Mrs. Simms, formerly of St. Mary, had been making her home at Sacred Heart Home in Louisville. She was born December 17, 1884 (s/b 1883), a daughter of the late Ben D. and Theresa Elder. Her husband, Richard Robert Simms, died in 1920. Survivors include a son, Robert, Louisville; three daughters, Mrs. William F. Mattingly, Mrs. John Frank, Louisville, and Mrs. Ray Meschede, Gary, Ind.; a brother, Benedict Elder, St. Mary, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The body was at Bosley Funeral Home, where the Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday. The funeral was conducted at St. Charles Church by the Rev. George J. Waldie and the Rev. John Lesousky. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bobby, Jeff, Louis, and John Meschede, Bill and John Mattingly.
