Don grew up in Carter, OK where he graduated from high school. He worked in the printing business and then as a carpenter in civil service at Fort Sill. He bought an old hand operated printing press that he enjoyed using and kept his sons in pocket money during high school. He loved restoring antique tractors, and helping family, friends, and at church.
