Son of Margaret Burkins Abbott and the late Harvey Abbott. Brother of Douglas, Glenn, Robert and Bruce Abbott, Cynthia Busch, and Stephanie Brandt.

February 23, 2002 - Funeral services will be held today for Wayne and Emily Abbott of Freeland, Md., along with their sons Douglas, 9, and Brian, 5, who were killed Sunday in a car accident near Dover on Del. 1.

Glenn Abbott, one of Wayne Abbott's six siblings, said he would like to thank all those who helped at the scene of the accident. He has been told that so many people were involved that there is no way to thank each person individually. He also would like to invite those who helped to the services today.

"As a family, we'd be proud to have them there," Glenn Abbott said. "My family would love to shake their hands.

"They saved Meg's life and they did all they could do for everyone else," Mr. Abbott said, "I truly believe Meg is alive because of the care those guys gave her and the care she received at Christiana Hospital.

"I do want them to know our family is forever grateful for what they did."
