Carl was born in October, 1922 in Grant County, Oklahoma to Samuel Henry Stewart and Ina Stewart (nee Williams). As a young boy he was left handed but the schools back then made sure that when you wrote, you wrote with your right hand. My father in law said that Carl was always handy to have around because he could swing a hammer with both hands!

Carl lived his life in and around Caldwell and attended High School there. He was full of humor, quick to crack a joke and have his family laughing. He had an infectious belly laugh! At the age of fifteen he started farming and this would be what he enjoyed all of his life. Sixty of those years were spent farming just east of Caldwell.

On Christmas Eve, 1944 he married Helen Maxine White. They had two daughters, Nancy and Joyce and an infant son Max Duane Stewart who passed away in infancy.

Carl loved fishing, camping, reading and making crafts for the family. His grandchildren loved spending time with him on the farm riding the combine with "Grandpa", eating peanuts with him and listening to his jokes. He was an active member of the Central Christian Church and served as a deacon and held other positions as well.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the Central Christian Church.
