"Special Dispatches to the Chronicle. LOS ANGELES, January 19. -- Whether it be on account of the grip or for some other reason, old-timers are dropping off very rapidly here. John M. Foy, who has been identified with the interests of Southern California may years, died yesterday at his home in San Bernardino. He arrived in San Francisco, via Panama, in 1850, and about 1854 came to Los Angeles, where he engaged in business with his brother, S. C. Foy, till 1867, when he removed to San Bernardino. He married Miss Lou Macy, a daughter of the late Dr. Obed Macy. He leaves a widow, four sons and a daughter. His brother, S. C. Foy , and daughter, Mrs. M. M. O'Gormon, reside in this city. He was a prominent Odd Fellow, and will be buried under the auspices of that order tomorrow at San Bernardino."
