Word was received in the city, Monday announcing the death of Mrs Jane Lutes at the hospital in Omaha, where she was taken to undergo an operation for gall stones.
To most of our people, who did not realize the seriousness of her condition, this information came as a shock. To others it came as an end to the hope that she might survive this ordeal and soon regain her former strength.
For a Lon time Mrs. Lutes had been ailing and she was not removed from her home until her condition became alarming and the only hope for recovery lay in the surgeon's hand.
She was the mother of a large family who she has raised to be upright young men and women. Her part in life had never been free from and toil, but she was of a happy disposition and enjoyed the thought of the purpose for which she was striving.
At the time of her death she was fifty fives years, three months and twenty eight days of age, and up to the time of her last illness was a woman of seemingly strong vitality and possessed untold energy. Strongly devoted to her family, she lived to see them grown up and has left with them a training that will ever aid them in their daily life.
A character centered on such a purpose approaches the ideal, for it surrenders to other all thought of self.
